Student on pottery wheel throwing a bowl

Clayways began in early 2025, growing from our founder Tracy’s love of pottery. After over three decades of making ceramic pots as a hobby, taking courses around the world and teaching at a local pottery, Tracy built a cozy garden pottery studio at Aston in between Nantwich and Whitchurch. Together with her husband David they had plans for semi-retirement and a few hours a week playing with clay.  Oh how quickly those plans changed!

What started as a personal creative space soon became something to share. Jess joined, followed by Lauren, and retirement plans were soon shelved as Clayways grew into a thriving full time business.

Today, we’re a friendly, supportive community with a shared passion for all things ceramic. Clayways is as much about people as pottery; sharing our studio, making lovely things and finding new friends along the way.

Our Team

We are all passionate about pottery and love sharing our knowledge and studio with other people who continue to inspire us whilst we continue to learn more about the glorious art of ceramics.  We all bring different skills to Clayways and together enjoy laughter and discovery every day.

Tracy (or TC as most people know her) launched the business in 2025 after spending her career in Marketing, but with a lifelong passion for all things pottery having taken many courses across the UK and beyond to hone her craft.

She has now taught hundreds of people how to throw on the wheel and loves seeing their skills develop and sharing her Cheshire studio with people of all ages and abilities.

Jess joined the team at the end of 2025 officially having spent weekends and days off in the studio learning everything she could about pottery and ceramics.

Jess is a passionate glaze expert and loves trying out new combinations and managing the kiln for the team.

Her gorgeous daughter Ava is fast becoming the latest member of the team. At 7 she picks up pottery skills quicker than any of us!

Lauren joined us officially in Summer 2026 having built her own successful artisan making business. She brings that expertise to the team as well as superb throwing skills and social media expertise.

Lauren is passionate about all things pottery and brings lots of exciting ideas and practical guidance to the team.

She has her own successful business Spicy Bean Creates .
